The National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers’ (NAPIM) will be heading to Las Vegas for its 101st Annual Convention, which will be held April 1-4, 2016 at Red Rocks Hotel & Casino.
          
John Copeland, NAPIM’s executive director, said that NAPIM’s leaders are excited about having the convention in Las Vegas this year.

“We are very enthusiastic about this year’s convention,” Copeland said. “Our current president, Pat Carlisle, wanted to do something different this year and try out Las Vegas for this year’s site. so our committee has been running with it and developing a great program. We believe the speakers, industry information and activities will make this a great experience for everyone attending.
 
“The first thing about this year is that the Red Rock Resort is just very, very nice,” he added. “The accommodations are very nice and the resort houses a number of restaurants, making it easy to find good food on site.”

There are some interesting presentations scheduled this year’s conference. The keynote speaker will be Richard Picciotto, FDNY chief and highest-ranking firefighter to survive the World Trade Center collapse, who will offer his recollections from 9/11 as well as importance of focusing on what is truly important.
 
Mentalist Paul Draper will lead the opening breakfast. NAPIM’s George Fuchs will discuss safety issues, and there will be a graphic arts panel that will look at key issues facing the printing and ink industries. The State of the Industry presentation will analyze the ink industry’s numbers for the past year.
 
“Our opening breakfast will start off lightly with Mentalist Paul Draper,” Copeland noted. “Paul will be very entertaining and also provide information about body language, inform us if someone is lying and help us to be able to solve mysteries. “Our keynote this year will be very inspirational and interesting. Richard Picciotto was the highest ranking firefighter to survive the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center. His focus is one of renewed belief in what is important and in humanity. Richard is the author of the book ‘Last Man Down.’ His presentation will be a wonderful motivator.”

There will also be a number of events outside of the meetings. There will be golf and tennis tourneys, a tour of the Hoover Dam, the NAPIM Fun Night at Red Rocks Bowling Lanes and the Black Tie Ault Award dinner, with the presentation of the prestigious Ault and Pioneer Awards.
 
“The activities this year will include a tour of Hoover Dam, golf at the Jack Nicklaus designed “Bears Best,” a fantastic tour of “The Mob Museum,” the annual NAPIM Tennis Tournament and a number of other great activities,” Copeland said.
